The Weisshorn is the 9th highest peak in the Alps (on the UIAA 82 list) but that doesn't really do it justice - it's one of the longest "Normal" routes in the Alps with 1600m of height gain from the hut, and the hut walk-in is a steep 1500m ascent in itself. It's quite a pleasant walk up, but seems endless on the way down! Lots of people will choose to spend a second night at the hut.

The route itself has some tricky route-finding in the dark, a lot of loose rock, and a long summit snowslope which adds a bit of time pressure as it faces East and gets the morning sun. There's not much technical climbing but overall it adds up to one of the harder 4000m peaks.
