Guided Climbing on one of the most famous peaks in the Swiss Alps : the Eiger or the Matterhorn, booking as a team of two.
After an initial 3 days of acclimatisation at a 2:1 guiding ratio you will head to Zermatt or Grindewald to climb the Matterhorn or Eiger with your own IFMGA Mountain Guide, climbing together as 2 teams of 2 climbers.
The difficulty and physical challenge of these peaks should not be underestimated. They offer very long and sustained rock scrambles, with some strenuous sections on fixed ropes on the Matterhorn and spectacular exposure. The terrain is very different from snow peaks like Mont Blanc. Recent rock climbing and scrambling training plus winter mountaineering experience is essential for a safe and enjoyable ascent. A couple of days' prior personal acclimatisation before the trip is helpful.
Typical itinerary in good conditions:
Day 1: Traverse of Petit Dent de Veisivi (3184m) - a high-quality rock scramble of AD (grade III) standard
Days 2-3: Ascend to Vignettes Hut (3158m) above Arolla and traverse Mont Blanc de Cheilon (3869m)(AD-) a classic mixed route at high-altitude
Days 4-6: Drive to Zermatt and walk in to Hornli hut. Ascend Matterhorn by Hörnli or Italian Ridges (AD or AD+); return to Evolène
OR
Days 4-6: Drive to Grindelwald; ascend to Mittellegi Hut and traverse the Eiger by the Mittellegi and South Ridges; stay at Mönchsjoch Hut, climb Mönch; return to Evolène
If travelling by train from Geneva, we recommend buying a Swiss half tariff card to reduce lift expenses when climbing the Eiger.
Please note : This week is available for booking only as a team of 2.

Second hut night: Clients booking this trip who require a second night on the Matterhorn due to missing the last lift (slow ascent/descent) are required to pay their own and their guides hut expenses for the second night. This happens rarely and is not reflected in the estimated expenses of CHF365.
