Only 1 place left for 2024!
Join us for a week of ski touring in the Valais. Using the quiet high mountain resorts of Evolene and Arolla as a base, we'll warm up on a local day tour on Sunday before heading to a hut to explore further afield in the Valais. The aim of the week is to reach several summits on skis and maybe even a 4000m peak. The plan is to use winter rooms to find quieter mountains - and virtually guaranteed fresh tracks.
Winter room touring does mean carrying some extra weight so fitness is important. We'll need to do 1000m ascents with a 10-15kg rucksack. The Arolla valley and surrounding area have lots of options for day touring too - great for the warm up day and if weather limits hut access during the week.
The week is based in our summer chalet in Evolene which offers complete flexibility for the itinerary. Skiers will have access to their room in the chalet for the whole week with no charge for "extra" nights in the valley.
The price of the week includes:
- 6 days of guided ski touring
- All guides expenses
- Transport between Evolene, Arolla and ski venues
- 4 nights of half board accommodation in Chalet "Chemin des Etoiles" - single supplement available on request (£150).
You'll need to arrange suitable insurance and your own transport to and from Evolene (e.g. fly to Geneva and train/bus from Sion to Evolene).
You should bring suitable personal skiing equipment including boots, skis, skins, sticks, crampons, harness, helmet (if preferred) and rucksack. We can arrange to hire any of these items for you, please see our gear section for prices. You can download our ski touring kit list here.
Check in is from 16:30 on Saturday 25th (guests may leave bags at the chalet from 3pm).
Guests are kindly requested to vacate their rooms by 8:15 am on Saturday 4th March with full check out from the chalet by 8:45am.
